Afghan government delegation began talks with the Taliban on the tense situation in Afghanistan in Doha, Qatar. According to Afghan media, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is leading the Taliban delegation, while Abdullah is leading the Afghan political delegation.
Besides Abdullah Abdullah, the Afghan political delegation includes Mohammad Karim Khalili, Ata Mohammad Noor, Masoom Stanikzai, Salam Rahimi, Fatima Gilani, and Saadat Mansoor Nadri. According to Afghan media, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai is not included in the 10-member Afghan political delegation that went to Doha for talks. Before the political delegation left Kabul for Doha, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai told reporters that the Afghan political delegation was fully empowered to negotiate with the Taliban.
In this regard, a spokesman for the Afghan government said that the two sides will discuss ways to make the talks more effective and expeditious. A spokesman for the Afghan government also said that they want peace in Afghanistan and hoped that the talks would be fruitful.
